About Kate

I’m a writer and teacher based in Baltimore.

My short fiction won the Crazyshorts! Short-Short Fiction Contest and was selected by the guest editor Aimee Bender for the anthology Best Small Fictions. Two of my short plays were staged at Berkeley Repertory Theatre as part of PlayGround SF, where they won People’s Choice Awards in 2018 and 2019. In 2023 and 2024, I shared excerpts from my middle school diaries with an audience of strangers as part of the live storytelling show Mortified, and was featured on the twentieth-anniversary episode of The Mortified Podcast. I am working on my first novel.

I am a Lecturer in The Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins, where I earned my MFA in fiction and won a Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award in 2021.
